CSOMOD — CS 1.6 Android Mobile Client

Xash3D FWGS Android CSOMOD since 2012

Play Counter-Strike 1.6 on your Android phone and connect directly to the CSOMOD servers using Xash3D FWGS. Follow the steps below — the whole setup takes a few minutes. Prefer the standalone client? Jump to the CS16Client guide.

Before you start: you need a File Manager app on your Android device. If you don't already have one, you can download one from the Google Play Store.

Installation

  1. Install Xash3D FWGS. Download the Android build and install the APK on your device.

    Download Xash3D FWGS APK
Android may ask you to allow installation from unknown sources. If prompted, enable Install unknown apps for your browser or file manager.
  2. Download the CS 1.6 files. Get the required engine files, then extract cs16.zip. You should end up with these folders:

    Download CS 1.6 Engine Files
    cstrike/ valve/
  3. Open the Xash folder. In your phone's Internal Storage, open the folder named xash, then copy the extracted cstrike and valve folders into it. It should look like this:

    Internal Storage/ └── xash/ ├── cstrike/ └── valve/
  4. Download CSOMOD resources Optional

Pre-downloading the complete server resources means you won't have to fetch files while connecting, so your first join is much faster. Extract the ZIP and copy the cstrike_downloads folder into your xash directory.

    Download CSOMOD Server Resources
    Internal Storage/ └── xash/ ├── cstrike/ ├── cstrike_downloads/ └── valve/
Tip: this step is optional. However, pre-downloading the resources can make your first connection much faster and prevents you from having to download files while connecting.
  5. Launch Xash3D FWGS. Open the app and select Counter-Strike from the Library.

  6. Start playing. Select Play CS, then Play Online.

  7. Add the CSOMOD server. Add the CSOMOD server IP address or DNS name to your favourites. When adding the server, make sure to select GoldSource 48.

    Server IP
    81.181.244.5:27015
    Server DNS
    server.csomod.com:27015
  8. Join the server. Select the CSOMOD server from your favourites and press Join Game.

Welcome to CSOMOD!

You're now ready to play Counter-Strike 1.6 on Android and join the CSOMOD Community. Good luck and have fun!

Final folder structure

For reference, your final xash directory should look like this:

Internal Storage/ └── xash/ ├── cstrike/ ├── cstrike_downloads/ └── valve/

F.A.Q

When I join the server, [Xash3D] is automatically added to my name. Can I remove it?

Yes. You can disable this option from the Xash3D configuration. Follow these steps:

  1. Close Xash3D FWGS completely.
  2. Open your phone's Internal Storage.
  3. Open the xash folder.
  4. Open the cstrike folder.
  5. Find the file config.cfg.
  6. Open config.cfg with a text editor.
  7. Find the setting cl_advertise_engine_in_name and change its value:

    Change from
    cl_advertise_engine_in_name "1"
    To
    cl_advertise_engine_in_name "0"
  8. Save the file.
  9. Start Xash3D FWGS again.

That's it! [Xash3D] will no longer be automatically added to your player name.

Note: if Xash3D changes the setting back, make sure the game is completely closed before editing config.cfg, and verify that the file was saved correctly.

See you in-game!

  1. Download the ZIP file.
  2. Extract the downloaded ZIP.
  3. Locate the cstrike_downloads folder.

Your directory should look like this:

xash/ ├── valve/ ├── cstrike/ └── cstrike_downloads/
Launch CS16Client and connect to a CSOMOD server. Since the server resources are already downloaded, you avoid downloading them when connecting.

CSO #1 Server Resources

.zip · 435 MB Optional

If FastDL is slow or giving you trouble, this archive has every resource CSO #1 needs, ready to drop straight into your cstrike folder. Only needed if you'd rather set things up by hand — if FastDL is already downloading files for you, you can skip this.

Installation

  1. Download cstrike_downloads.zip using the button above.
  2. Extract it with WinRAR, 7-Zip, or your archive tool of choice.
  3. Copy the extracted files into your cstrike folder — see Steam vs. non-Steam below.
  4. Launch the game and connect to CSO #1.

Steam users

Move the cstrike_downloads folder into your cstrike folder as-is — the folder itself belongs inside cstrike.

Non-Steam users

Open cstrike_downloads and copy everything inside it directly into your cstrike folder.

This pack just saves you from downloading resources one at a time — handy for a fresh install or a slow FastDL, but not required if FastDL already works fine for you. Android players: see the Android guide above, where the folder goes into xash instead.
